Questions of the month {01}

I wanted to try something new. There are a lot of things that I wonder about. How do I do this? What is your opinion on that? Etc., etc.

  1. Are expensive tweezers really worth it?
I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but I've been diagnosed as having borderline OCD. Typically, I carry more of the obsessive behaviors instead of the compulsive ones. However, I do have a weird compulsion... I am obsessive-compulsive about plucking my eyebrows. I pretty much have to have tweezers around me at all times, that way if I feel a stray hair on my face, I can pluck it. If I don't, I will destroy my nails trying to get that hair out of my head. I have a couple pairs of really cheap, crappy tweezers right now... but are the expensive Tweezerman ones really that much better than a good pair of $5 tweezers?
  2. How am I supposed to wear TOMS?
I have been obsessed with TOMS forever, and I luckily received a pair of beautiful grey corduroy ones for Christmas! But, now that I have them, I don't know how to wear them! Socks or no socks? Skinny jeans or flares? Spring/Summer or all year? So many questions!

  3. How do you care for your feet?
It seems like no matter what I do, my feet always look horrible! I just can't seem to keep up with the calluses. What do you recommend? I want to know what your "foot regimen" is.

  4. Fashion Bloggers: How have you found to be the best way to take your outfit photographs?
I really want to start doing full outfit photographs, but I'm not really sure how I should go about it. I know what I would really like is to be photographed in the woods behind our house, but I just don't have the time for that (especially with it being winter). So, what other options have you found to be successful?

Tip tuesday; number sixteen

I stumbled upon white concealer at the drugstore the other day. This makes an awesome facial highlighter. The best places to apply it are your temples, right under the end of your eyebrow, and the inner corners of your eyes (especially).

Tip tuesday; number fifteen

Today, I decided to do a health tip to kick-off my weight-loss challenge (keep an eye out for that tomorrow!)....

Hungry but its not meal time? Eat a snack that's high in fiber to help you feel full until it is time to eat. So what kind of foods are full of fiber?
  • Raspberries
  • Bananas
  • Oatmeal
  • Beans
  • Almonds
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • ...Just to name a few.

Music madness monday; no. three & Tip tuesday; no. fourteen

Okay, so this holiday must have really thrown me off! But I guess its better late than never right? And let me tell you, this week's song was a hard one to find. So, last week, we had "Annie, You Save Me" by Graffiti6 and this week we're going to do "Save The Robots" by Members of Mayday. It sounds so neat!

But first, our Tuesday Tip:

Save time by not filing the corners of your nails after you cut them. The source I found said that filing the corners actually weakens the structure of your nail!

& Now back to our feature presentation. :)

tip tuesday #13

I love to use face masks, no matter the time of day! But especially in the morning. The benefits from the mask make your skin look absolutely amazing, so why go to sleep? And wearing it in the morning really doesn't take any longer than it would normally take you to get around.

Here's what I do:
I shower and wash my face like normal.
Then I put my hair in towel to get it out of my face, and put the mask on.
I'll do some random tasks to get around... brush my teeth, get dressed, fix my nail polish... and then after a few minutes and most of the mask has dried, I'll start drying my hair. Sometimes I'll go as far as to completely style it.
I then pin my bangs back and away from my face, and rinse my face off, and then finish my skincare routine.
My skin then looks good as new! :)

Tip Tuesday #12

Use lip products with blue undertones to make your teeth look whiter. Lip products with orange undertones will only make your teeth look more yellow. Ew.

Tip Tuesday #11

Wear ruffles or a scarf on top if you're flat-chested. This will make the area look fuller, creating a more feminine appearance.

Tip Tuesday #10

Try to do as much heat styling with your hair dryer as possible. While no heat is better than any heat, your hair dryer is probably the healthiest option when that heat is needed. Use a diffuser when you want curls, get an attachment that focuses the air when you want straight hair, use a paddle brush or round brush for other options.

Tip Tuesday #9

There seems to be two categories of make-up wearing women out there... Women who use primer and women who don't. The women who don't, do it because they've never tried it... once they do, they are forever switched to the other category.

Foundation primer is the best thing ever. It makes it so you need less foundation, it smooths out your skin for a better foundation application, and it keeps your foundation from turning weird colors (are you one of those people who gets orange foundation when you start to sweat?). Not all primer is expensive either. Go out there and find a good primer for you!

Tip Tuesday #8

Please! For the love of God... put foundation on your neck!! It doesn't take a whole lot, and it will really make your foundation look more natural.

Tip Tuesday #7

Put on too much Blush/Bronzer/Whatever? Use your Kabuki brush to blend everything out for a more natural look! I just take mine (without any powder on it) and rub it in a circular motion around my face. You can also use it to blend the edges of where you applied your blush!

Tip Tuesday #6

Have Oily Skin? Try A Little Rice Powder! I use this stuff and it does wonders. You can buy it tinted or translucent and it really sucks up any oil on your skin, plus it diffuses light to even out your complexion. You can use this a couple different ways. You can put over mineral foundation, like a veil. Or put over your liquid foundation to set it. Or, because I have bad skin, what I do is put on my liquid foundation, then a light coat of rice powder, and then my pressed powder with a kabuki brush to blend and for further coverage.

Tip Tuesday #5

Flat irons are really all in one tools.  I love to use mine to get beachy waves.  You clasp your hair like you normally would with the flat iron, and as you pull down, you're going to basically turn your wrist.  Begin by turning it down (you get volume this way) and then you flick your wrist up.  The shorter the strokes, the wavier your hair will be.

Here is a video that I found, that will help to explain the basic technique...

TIP TUESDAY #4

WANT TO MAKE YOUR EYESHADOW MORE VIBRANT AND LAST LONGER???  YOU CAN ALWAYS GET YOUR APPLICATOR WET BEFORE PUTTING IT ON!

I ALSO DO THIS WITH MY PRESSED FOUNDATION POWDER I HAVE.  IF MY FOUNDATION HAS STARTED COMING OFF BUT ITS NOT BAD ENOUGH TO COMPLETELY REAPPLY, I'LL WET THE POWDER SPONGE TO PUT THE POWDER ON JUST A LITTLE THICKER THAN DRY POWDER ALONE.

Much Love!!  Xoxo

Tip Tuesday #3

Use contracting colors when using concealers.  This means, yellow works really well for under-eye circles and dark spots.  Use green for zits/pimples/redness.  And then just apply your make-up like you normally would.  It's pretty easy to find different colored concealers now, one of the best companies, is probably Physician's Formula.

Much Love!!  Xoxoxo

TIP TUESDAY!!!! #2

Want to whiten your teeth without using expensive commercial products?  Baking Soda & Hydrogen Peroxide will do the job!  Just mix together so you have a paste and dip your toothbrush in it and use after brushing your teeth!

TIP TUESDAY!! #1

I wanted to try something new.  Every Tuesday, I would like to post a tip for you guys.  I've noticed that while I'm getting ready and what not, a lot of things come to mind that I would like to tell you, but they don't really fit in any "category".  This is going to be something short and most likely, pretty random, and just to the point.  I hope you enjoy & I want your opinions!

Tip #1
Apply your eye cream with your ring finger.  This finger has the lightest touch and will result in less pulling (which could result in more wrinkles, with time)!
