Oh, how pinteresting {02.06}

Here are some of my favorite pins from the past week! I'm sorry happy to be able to share them with you.

Musical wednesday {thrift shop}

This song popped up on my Pandora this morning, and I think I'm obsessed. There is some profanity, so I wouldn't recommend watching it with kids around... but overall, the song is really fun!

My current skincare routine

I wanted to share with everyone my skincare routine. I don't have it down to a science yet, but I think I am getting closer. If only I could get this oil under control, everything will be well in the world. I hope this helps with anyone trying to figure out their next skincare purchase!
Morning Routine
Every morning, I start by washing my face in the shower. My current cleanser is Dickinson's Witch Hazel Cleanser. I really like this one because witch hazel is great for balancing oil levels, and I really feel as though it is doing just that. || Once I'm out of the shower, I will tone my face with Simple Soothing Toner. I like this one because I'm finding that it really gets all of the dirt out of my skin and lets me start with a clean pallet.  || I don't moisturize often, but when I do, my favorite is Mario Badescu AHA & Cermide Moisturizer. I actually used to use all Mario Badescu products until I got bored and I still really like this one because its one of the lightest that I have found. || When I use a face mask, I actually make an asprin & honey mask. I use Bulk Assured Asprin from Dollar Tree (because its cheap and uncoated). I will take four and dissolve them in water to create a paste, and then mix a small amount of honey to soothe my skin. I really like the asprin because it does a great job at shrinking my large pores.
Nightly Routine
When I am getting ready for bed, I am lazy and use Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes to remove my makeup. || Then, I use what I have left of my Proactiv Repairing Lotion to help prevent acne (its too moisturizing for me during the day, oddly enough). || When I want to shrink my pores without the asprin mask, I found that applying a coat of Proactiv Refining Mask over my cheeks and forehead before bed will do the trick, as well. I probably wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has dry skin.
Eyecare Routine
Right now, I am using Neutrogena Eye Make-up Remover to take off all of my eye make-up, as needed. It is usually twice a day: once at night to get most everything off and then again in the morning to get residue mascara off after washing my face. || When I remember to apply an eye cream, I grab my Lancome Genefique sample, which has lasted me forever. I do like it, but not sure if I'll give up the money when I run out. I may try something different (Back to Mario Badescue? Who knows!)

Blogg madness {no. 9}

Its that time again! I actually was able to keep up on my blog subscriptions a little more and able to do some more reading this previous week... and everyone just posted some great stuff! Here are some of my favorites:

January popsugar must have box

I apologize... this post is a little late. I received my first POPSUGAR Must Have Box about a week ago, and I'm loving it!

You can click here if you want to see my initial post explaining what the POPSUGAR Must Have box. But basically, each month has a theme and the editors of POPSUGAR pick out some of their personal favorites within that theme. Subscribers then get a box FILLED with stuff all for $35 (and free shipping). It's really a great deal, and you'll see why after finding out what I received this month.

So, this month, their theme was related to Fitness and Indulgence.

Merrithew Stability Ball. Retail Price $36.99. I'll be honest, I actually haven't gotten this out of the box yet. My motivation to work out is really low right now. But, I do really enjoy crunches on a stability ball, and just ab workouts in general. Maybe when my motivation to exercise comes back, I'll do a post on some of my favorite ab exercises?

Popbar Hot Chocolate on a Stick. Retail Price $2.99/each. Boyfriend and I actually just enjoyed these Friday night. I received one Milk Chocolate and one Dark Chocolate. They were really good. It was just a richer hot chocolate than the boxes of powder mix you pick up from the store. I'm not sure if I would ever invest in these on my own, because I really don't drink a lot of hot chocolate. But it was a really good treat on a cold Friday night.

Think Thin Bars. Retail Price $1.69-$1.99/each. I received three of these, and this was actually the first product I tried. I broke into the Think Thin Crunch bar right after taking the above photograph. And then I ate the Creamy Peanut Butter Protein Bar a couple of days later for lunch. The Divine bar I actually gave away because it was Dark Chocolate Coconut and I really do not like coconut. But these were some of my favorite items in the box! I may actually buy these if I saw them somewhere.

Epicuren Discovery Lip Balm. Retail Price approx. $9. I am a sucker for lip balms because I hate having chapped lips. I really loved this one, although they make it in stick form and I would have preferred that. It has tea tree oil in it which makes your lips a little tingly. Its just a really light lip balm that makes your lips super soft. Your lips soak it up really quick though, so plan on reapplying about an hour later.

Remix Timebomb Watch. Retail Price $44.95. I was actually really excited to receive a watch! I have been wanting a new one... although I have been wanting a dressy watch. But this one is fun and I plan on wearing it in the summer. I received the watch in white (which I am glad because that is what I would have preferred). Its a large silicone band and the face has an LED light that makes the numbers flash a variety of colors.

As you can see, its pretty large for my wrist. What would be some good ways to dress it up in the summer? Should I just stack some beaded bracelets next to it?

Jet-Puffed Mallow Bits. Retail Price Approx. $5? I am not going to lie, I am really bummed that I forgot to put these with my hot chocolate sticks! Once again, probably won't use them a whole lot, and I haven't tried them yet.

Not Pictured: $15 Casetagram Gift Certificate. I would have LOVED to use this item. Casetagram uses your Instagram pictures to make a really neat case for some of your electronics, but mostly iPhones. Unfortunately, I do not own any of the items they make cases for and the $15 gift certificate doesn't cover the cost of a case anyways. But its a great idea!

Total Savings on Really Cool Stuff: $87.59

They also have a referral program, that I would be crazy not to tell you about. When 2 friends use my referral link to sign up, I will receive 1 month free. Then 5 Friends = 3 Months Free; 10 Friends = 6 Months Free.

Enter REFER5 into the coupon code box to receive $5 off your first box!

January favorites!

  1. Shine Control Primer by Neutrogena. As you may have now realized (I kind of go on and on and on....), I have oily skin, so I have to be really careful about what I put on my face. If I don't have a good primer, my face will look orange from oxidation by middle afternoon. This one isn't perfect, but its definitely one of the better primers I have used. It actually has rice in it, which does really well at absorbing oil. It is also a creamy texture, so it feels like your skin is eating it up. One of the other oil-control primers I have used and liked was more a layer sitting on top of your skin. Not sure which I like better, but I'm definitely enjoying this primer.
  2. Matte Lipstick Color 101 by Rimmel London Kate Moss Collection. I never really wore lipsticks until this month, when I went crazy and purchased four. I actually looked at this in the drugstore and blew it off. When I got home that night, I was reading some blogs and came across a rave review of this color by Stacey at Beautiful Solutions. Needless to say, it has been my go to color since. The color in the image above is actually a different shade. 101 is a lighter rose pink.
  3. Bud Light Platinum. Don't judge! :) I am only 24, have no kids, and live responsibly during the week. That means I get Saturday nights to enjoy myself and maybe drink a little too much (sometimes). This month, my drink of choice was Bud Light Platinum. That's really all I have to say about that.
  4. Lucky in Love Body Spray by Layers by Scentsy.  For those of you who don't know, I sell Scentsy for extra cash. They came out with a Layers line that I do use from time to time, and in September they introduced new scents. One of these scents was Lucky in Love with is a perfect dupe for Victoria's Secret Lovespell... but better! I have been wearing this body spray about every other day since I ordered it, and it lasts all day! A new favorite, for sure.
  5. Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in Tough as Taupe by Maybelline. I'm not going to lie to you... I saw one of my favorite beauty gurus on youtube (Leigh Ann @ leighannsays) use this eye color and I knew I had to have it. I wasn't really paying attention to the video when she held it up, so I thought it was one of the new L'oreal Infallible eye shadows (which I really like!). I got to the store, realized it wasn't, and stumbled upon it, not even realizing it was a cream eyeshadow. I don't normally like cream shadows! However, I am loving this. The shade is perfect, it lasts about all day, and its blendable with a makeup brush. What more can a girl ask for?
