Empties review {la base pro}

I have another Empties review for you all! It's pretty pricy when you run out of all your products at once. I've been doing a lot of these empties reviews lately... and I have more coming!

So this time, I want to talk to you about Lancome's LA Base Pro. It is a smoothing make-up primer. I purchased mine from Elder-Beerman for $34 or $36, but it's listed on Lancome's website for $42. Who knows, maybe I payed $42. But the selling point for me, besides loving Lancome's products, is that they had one of those gift with purchase bags that Lancome sometimes does. By making a qualifying purchase, I was able to receive a free lip gloss, eyeshadow quad, mascara sample, and a couple of skincare samples.

Here is what I though of this particular Lancome product: It is my least favorite of any of their products I have tried. I honestly could not tell the difference between this primer and any other primer, and even that I had a primer on. I used this with that Cargo foundation that I didn't like, and this did nothing to prevent oxidation. I actually asked the sales person about it before purchasing. For me, using a primer to control my oily skin is the key aspect. Although its formulated for someone who is normal to oily, it may work better on someone who is on the drier side... it had that nice velvety feel to it.

Pros: None that I could find.
Cons: Pricy, especially when no real benefit was found.
Repurchase: I have already repurchased another primer by Neutrogena for a fraction of the cost and that is actually formulated for oily skin. 

Musical wednesday {telescope}

I am loving this song! I never really listened to country music until I started dating Mr. Alex. Him and all of his friends are huge fans of good country music. Now and then, I stop on a country station to hear what's on and if there are any new songs that I love. This is it! Hayden Panettiere is amazing, and she looks great in this video... kind of reminds me of a younger Miranda Lambert. I hope you all enjoy this song as much as I do!

Empties review {cargo liquid foundation}

I few days ago, I did a post called Which foundation should I choose?. I was nearly out of my current foundation and I couldn't make up my mind for a replacement. I needed a replacement because I did not like this foundation... let me tell you why.

I was using Cargo Liquid Foundation, which I had purchased from Ulta a few months ago for $36. In case you don't know, I have super oily skin and have to be careful about what I put on my face or I end up a giant greaseball. I chose this one because it was Oil-Free and had some really good reviews by other people who have oily skin... plus, I thought the bag-style packaging would be really convenient.

And, the packaging was pretty convenient! I did like that, but you definitely have to be careful how hard you squeeze because foundation flew across the bathroom once or twice.

But here is what I didn't like: With me having such oily skin, I sometimes have trouble with my foundation oxidizing when it mixes with the oils. I have never found a foundation that turned so orange on my skin...until this one. Usually around 2-3pm, my foundation will start to shift on my face (leaving certain areas such as my eyebrows and hairline) and turn orange at the same time (which meant the areas of my face where the foundation wasn't, was just white). Some of this can be to blame on my primer, but even when I tried a new primer, this was still an issue (just a little bit later in the day).

It was $36, so I wasn't about to throw it out. And I drove over an hour just to buy this foundation from Ulta, so returning it was a bit of an issue. I just sucked it up and finished the tube... thinking the further into winter we got, the better it would sit (my skin sometimes gets more combination, depending on the weather that year).

Pros: Convenient packaging
Cons: Oxidizes on oily skin.
Repurchase?: No, I have already purchased another foundation. 

Questions of the month {01}

I wanted to try something new. There are a lot of things that I wonder about. How do I do this? What is your opinion on that? Etc., etc.

1. Are expensive tweezers really worth it?
   I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but I've been diagnosed as having borderline OCD. Typically, I carry more of the obsessive behaviors instead of the compulsive ones. However, I do have a weird compulsion... I am obsessive-compulsive about plucking my eyebrows. I pretty much have to have tweezers around me at all times, that way if I feel a stray hair on my face, I can pluck it. If I don't, I will destroy my nails trying to get that hair out of my head. I have a couple pairs of really cheap, crappy tweezers right now... but are the expensive Tweezerman ones really that much better than a good pair of $5 tweezers? 
2. How am I supposed to wear TOMS?
   I have been obsessed with TOMS forever, and I luckily received a pair of beautiful grey corduroy ones for Christmas! But, now that I have them, I don't know how to wear them! Socks or no socks? Skinny jeans or flares? Spring/Summer or all year? So many questions!  
3. How do you care for your feet?
   It seems like no matter what I do, my feet always look horrible! I just can't seem to keep up with the calluses. What do you recommend? I want to know what your "foot regimen" is.  
4. Fashion Bloggers: How have you found to be the best way to take your outfit photographs?
   I really want to start doing full outfit photographs, but I'm not really sure how I should go about it. I know what I would really like is to be photographed in the woods behind our house, but I just don't have the time for that (especially with it being winter). So, what other options have you found to be successful?
